What could happen if you cold turkey plaquenil

Since I have not taken it my chest feels so much better which is odd because chest pain is not listed as a side effect. Also I noticed that the Plaquenil I think was making me feel different but not in a good way.

So, I asked about coming off of plaquenil. He said that I could stop plaquenil cold turkey. It slowly decreases effectiveness in the body. After the holidays, I am tempted to stop to see if the symptoms of lupus reappear so he can diagnose me. Did you ask to be put on a cancellation list for your new rheumy? The Dangers of Going Cold Turkey Individuals can really shock their systems if they try to stop taking Xanax altogether without weaning off it. When a person is abusing this drug, the body becomes accustomed to the effects it causes, and without the drug, the body doesn’t know how to respond. Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. If you're gonna experiment, I went off it cold turkey as it didn't hurt to do it that way, but you better get back on before the summer or you could experience a flare-up.

Did you take yourself off Plaquenil, or did your doctor tell you to go off it? Plus I will be honest the whole eye site thing even though rare has always freaked me out. I went off of it to see if I can manage not being on it as my lupus isnt as severe as other cases but already I am feeling very fatigued and my legs feel heavy if that makes sense. I can discuss alternatives with my DR at my next appt but my DR feels as though the plaq is the best bet for my level of illness. If so are you just dealing with Lupus symptoms or did you take another med? I'm on Plaquenil, and after the first week's GI upset, I have had no problems with it.

I have missed 2 days of my Plaquenil- I have questions! Support Forums. I am no doctor, but my rhuemy did say you cannot quit cold turkey, its a weaning process. So what I'm trying to say, is that from my experience, not from my doctor's point of view, YES skipping plaquenil will make you feel different possible hurt or swell more. I can't believe you were told to stop taking plaquenil after only 6 months since it can take up to one YEAR to achieve full benefits! I don't know much about any sort of withdrawal but if I were you I'd start taking it again. I'd also have your thyroid checked. I'm hypothyroid and take levo along with he plaquenil. Well, so you DON'T have the aches later. Plaquenil slows the progression of the disease. Go ahead and call the Rhuemy now, or just wait until Monday, if you have had this for a few weeks anyway. I do love a drink every now and then but will love feeling better, even if a few months from now.

Plaquenil questions - I was just prescribed plaquenil to treat the cyst form of lyme. The usage of the drug says it is to suppress the immune system in the treatment of lupus. Why would you want to do this if you have lyme. I thought steriods and drugs that suppress the immune system make treatment much slower. I am reluctant to take it.
