    Antiinflammatory plaquenil

With Lupus and immunosuppressants, I am staying home as much as possible, but there are a few times I'm going to have to go out. Just wondered if anyone here ever heard of inflammatory osteoarthritis. I saw a rheumy ten years ago and he said I had mild RA. I can't take NSAIDs because the first rheum I saw years ago messed up my stomach when he told me to take 2400 mg of Ibuprofen for a year.

Skin Hyperpigmentation with Hydroxychloroquine Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is a common trade name is an anti-inflammatory oral medication that is commonly used to treat many autoimmune diseases. In the hair clinic, we use it for diseases such as lichen planopilaris, frontal fibrosing alopecia, Plaquenil is the brand name for the prescription drug hydroxychloroquine. It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others. Anti-inflammatory medications help to relieve many of the symptoms of lupus by reducing inflammation and pain. Anti-inflammatories are the most common drugs used to treat lupus symptoms like fever, arthritis or pleurisy. These symptoms often improve within several days of beginning treatment.

So, he started me on 400 mg of Plaquenil a day and he just upped it to 600 mg a day. As I said previously, my Rheumatologist now says it is inflammatory osteoarthrits. Why am I taking Plaquenil, which does help tremedously BTW, if I don't have RA or Lupus. This "dendritic deactivation" (I made that phrase up) helps reduce your immune system being silly and inflaming your joints. I know I had never heard of it until my rheumatologist said that is what I have...along w/osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. My blood tests are negative for RF but my CRP test was above normal. Ai Yi Yi Plaquenil reduces inflammation in many Rheumatic disorders, the mode of action is pretty complicated though so I shan't bore you with all the details, but basically it prevents your dendritic cells (these are messengers for your immune system, if you will) from interacting with your T-Cells (a special type of white blood cell which through a convoluted and boring process, causes inflammation when an infection is found, and these basically malfunction with inflammatory disorders).

  6. The mechanism of action is thought to be anti-inflammatory, but Plaquenil also seems to reduce sensitivity to sunlight. It has also been noted recently that smoking reduces the effectiveness of Plaquenil in treating lupus, thus, smoking cessation should be instituted in all patients taking Plaquenil. Hydroxychloroquine plaquenil ProHealth Fibromyalgia, ME. I started on Plaquenil and have been on it for 12 years. No side effects to date. I foolishly cut my dose in half when I was on another treatment and that is when my joint damage began. The first five years on the diesase while on the Plaquenil at full dose, I had no damage.
